How our rsync backup services work
Our servers and software utilize Rsync. Rsync was developed as a more efficient means of transferring files from one location to another and is included in virtually all Linux distributions by default.
So when you have an 8 GB file that's changed, we'll only upload the part of the file that actually changed! Meaning, if only a small peice of information in a file has changed, that's the only peice of information we'll copy to our servers. We then integrate that change into our main copy of your 8 GB file and verify that your local copy and our remote copy are both 100% identical. This is an incredibly efficient, fast way to back up your data. No longer do backups take hours or days.
