Q: Is my data safe at Backup Teddy?

A: Your data is protected by RAID6 military grade security and redundancy. Meaning even when multiple drive failures occur, your data is still safe. No one has access to the servers your data is securely stored on expect the core Backup Teddy security staff (to maintain and monitor our systems for reliability). Our sales and accounting staff do not have access to your data.

All data is encrypted enroute to Backup Teddy so prying eyes cannot see what you are backing up. We also include a feature to further encrypt databases on your server or vps before it gets transferred to Backup Teddy. Not even Backup Teddy security staff can access these encrypted databases. Which makes Backup Teddy a friendly choice for regular users and even the most security conscious.

Q: Is Backup Teddy compatible with my setup?

A: If you have a dedicated server or a VPS (also known as VDS), then you're good to go!

1. We support a massive range of Linux flavors (including the popular web hosting ones such as Centos and FreeBSD).
2. We have satisfied customers from web hosting companies such as SoftLayer, FutureHosting, GoDaddy, iWeb, LiquidWeb, and the list goes on.
3. We don't currently support Windows boxes (directly at least).

It is possible to use a shared web hosting account with Backup Teddy but only if your web host has enabled "Jailed SSH [external link]" for you. Please ask your shared web hosting provider if you have this access.

Q: What if Backup Teddy doesn't work / isn't compatible?

A: We've never actually come across a setup that wasn't compatible. At most, the odd one-out-of-a-hundred has a very peculiar setup - however we've always gotten things to work, usually an incompatible or non-existant package. Q: How & why is the pricing so cheap at Backup Teddy compared to other providers?

A: We aren't here to retire off our customers unlike other providers. They've done this for years because there was never a real alternative or easy solution - until now. A: Backup Teddy is in our opinion, the easiest to use remote backup solution for Linux. It's become the primary choice for webmasters who don't want to deal with the pain of learning complicated Linux commands but still need regular backup's completed. Until now, their was never an easy way to set up remote backups for linux.

Q: OK, I'm interested. So what does Backup Teddy back up?

A: You can backup system settings such as MySQL settings, PHP, Apache, cron jobs, and APF settings. And of course you'll back up your regular files and important databases. Backup Teddy lets you pick and choose what data to back up, but by default backs up key system settings so you don't need to think about it. Backup Teddy makes restoring your settings, files & databases easy.

Q: I don't want to even install it! Can you do it for me?

A: We happily setup the first server for each new customer as a thank you for giving us a test drive. Just contact support after ordering with the folders and databases you want backed up. We'll ask for any required details in our reply.
